Our "On
The Move" mural is a must-have in a kids' transportation
room. The washable background was done using the Cloudwash
kit that can be found in our online store; using the Cloudwash
makes it easy to create realistic skies and fluffly clouds.
Once the background was completely dry, we traced the On The Move
mural on the wall and painted in outline with acrylic craft paints.

here to see the mural kit process.
We hand drew the banner flying behind the bi-plane, and spelled
out a name with wooden letters inside the banner.
It is easy to accessorize a transportation room theme! Just
find some of your child's favorite toy trucks, airplanes, cars,
trains or boats and place them on top of dressers or bookshelves.
Hang model airplanes from the ceiling with fishing line.

Over the antique oak dresser, we've hung a wooden propeller
that was used in the 1940's on a real airplane. Reproductions
of propellers can be found online by searching on "reproduction
wooden airplane propellers".
A transportation
frame shows off his adorable little face, and a blue
ginger jar lamp sit on top of the dresser. The lamp serves
double duty as a night light. The stars cut in the ceramic base
project on to the walls and ceiling at night when turned on...a
high quality, functional keepsake that will be used for years!

We added airplane
drawer knobs to the closet doors, and hung a coat rack made
from transportation
theme drawer knobs.
The coat rack is a cinch to make, and also could be a great
gift! Find a piece of decorative moulding at a home improvement
store and cut to 18" in length. Next, drill small holes
through the moulding. Sand moulding with a fine grade of sandpaper,
brush clean from dust and spray paint with semi-gloss or gloss
white paint. Allow to dry completely and attach drawer pulls
through the pre-drilled holes. Attach hangers to the back of
moulding and hang on wall, preferrably to studs for added stability.

The highlight of this area of the room is a patchwork
quilt featuring antique airplanes
The convertible crib shown is a Generations model made by Baby's
Dream Furniture. WallNutz does not carry this furniture, however,
you can locate a retailer by visiting www.babysdream.com.
We hung an old model airplane over the crib using fishing line
and eye bolt screws secured into studs for stability.
Dark denim tab curtains are the perfect way to block out light
during nap time, plus they provide insulation, are washable and
versatile decor that work with almost any room makeover as your
child grows.
