Paint Your Own Rainbow Wall Mural

It's easy to paint a rainbow wall mural and you probably already have many of the supplies you need at home. Read on for a list of supplies and instructions on how to paint a rainbow mural.

Supplies:
White chalk or pencil
String
Nail
Acrylic craft paint or indoor latex paint
Brushes
Level (optional)

Instructions:
1. First, paint the walls the background color and allow paint to cure completely, generally 24 hours after the final coat.

2. Hammer the nail into the bottom, center point of your rainbow wall mural. We recommend the base of the wall, or using a level to draw a line higher up on the wall for a starting point.

3. Tie one end of the string to the nail and the other end to the pencil or chalk. Make the string as long as the highest point you want on the rainbow.

4. Move the writing instrument to the farthest bottom, left side of the rainbow wall mural while keeping the string taught.

5. Press the writing instrument against the wall and move it in an arc motion to the right, keeping the string taught at all times. This will form the outer most border of your rainbow wall mural.

6. Shorten the string and repeat steps 4 and 5. This will create the line between your first and second colors of the rainbow.

7. Repeat steps 4 through 6 until you have the desired number of color bands.

8. Paint in color bands with acrylic craft paint (available at all craft stores) or indoor latex paint.

9. Allow paint to dry fully. You can protect your rainbow wall mural by brushing on a coat of clear sealant such as Minwax Polycrylic, available at home improvement stores.

10. Enjoy!
