Foam
Board Cutouts Project
Using foam board as
a backing for images
is a fun and inexpensive way to make your wall decor "pop".
Materials can be found at any craft supply store.
Materials:
Foam board(s)
Adhesive spray
Picture or image
You can use any picture for this project. Some ideas are promotional
movie posters (ask at your video rental store if they give these
away), calendars or even take your favorite digital pictures and
have them enlarged through Costco.com or Shutterfly.com into poster
sized images.
Find a well ventilated area, dust free area. Cover flat work surface
with clean newspaper. Turn picture face down and spray back with
adhesive, covering completely. Leave picture face down and press
foam board gently but firmly on to picture. (If the picture is
too large for your board, simply use a second foam board. Tape
any seams together with masking tape or duct tape for stability.)
Lift picture and foam board and discard newspaper.
Next, for an image with straight lines, place a metal square on
top of picture and cut along desired edges with an x-acto knife.
You might also want to cut around an image to make it appear life-like.
Trim around the outline of the object with the x-acto knife.
You can hang the artwork with Tac or glue a picture hanger to
the back.
